Description
- Maloney Spheres are specially designed and compounded for optimum resiliency, wear-resistance and long life. The Spheres are compression molded at cavity pressure exceeding 2,000 psi (137.9 bars or 13,790 kPa). We do not pour cast or rotational-mold any of our Spheres. The compression molding process is critical to ensuring a uniform density of the compounded material and to yield a wear-life that is unmatched in the industry.
SPECIFICATIONS
- During sphere production, each molded hemisphere is subject to intensive physical inspection. Following assembly and post curing, every sphere is inflated to a specified increased diameter for 24 hours. This critical step is taken to assure that every Maloney Sphere that leaves our factory will fulfill the exacting demands of the task for which it was designed.
- Inflatable Spheres are available in 4” sizes and larger (up to 42”). Solid Spheres are available from 1-1/2” through 4” in all material.
Maloney Spheres have the following uses:
- Liquid displacer in Meter prover loops
- Liquid product separator
- Signal actuating device
- Two-phase flow
- Hydrostatic testing
- Liquid removal in gas lines
- Maloney Spheres will pass through short bends, properly designed tees and full-opening conduit type valves. They will pass through out-of-round pipe, will wear evenly, and can be wear-compensated by adjusting the diameter by inflation.
